Chalk Paint Recipe
The previous chairs we had in our kitchen took up too much of our window view, so when I found these old vintage Thonet bentwood chairs I joyfully loaded them into my car and brought all 6 of these cuties home and gave them a make over.
I used my trusted chalk paint recipe and the paint color that matched our kitchen table we repainted this summer. Here is the chalk paint recipe I used if you want to give it a try.
How I did it:
*prepared the piece buy giving it a quick sanding (just to rough it up and bring up the tooth) then wiped down with tsp (this gets all the grease off ect)...
- 4tbs of calcium carbonate
- 2-3 tbs of water (i usually use 3) mix until dissolved
-then add 1 1/2 caps of paint (most recipes call for a flat or matte paint, I have used flat, matte and satin sheen paint as well.
-seal with polycrylic ( I used minwax brand)
*I am not affiliated with any of the above named brands.
